"Defending Champion" GS Caltex defeated Hyundai Engineering & Construction in the cup competition to

GS Caltex beat Hyundai Engineering & Construction to reach the final of the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) 2023 Gumi Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Tournament.

GS Caltex beat Hyundai Engineering & Construction 3-1 (23-25 25-23 25-17 25-20) in the semifinals of the tournament held at Gumi Park Chung-hee Gymnasium on the 4th.

GS Caltex, the "defending champion," took its last step toward winning two consecutive tournaments and six women's titles.

It will compete with the winner of the IBK Industrial Bank of Korea-KGC Ginseng Corporation match on the 5th.

On the other hand, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which won three consecutive games in the group stage, was blocked by GS Caltex and failed to advance to the finals.

GS Caltex's captain Kang So-hwi scored 23 points, the most in both teams, while Yoo Seo-yeon scored 14 points and Moon Ji-yoon scored 14 points.

For Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Jung Ji-yoon scored 18 points and Kim Joo-hyang scored 11 points, but it was not enough.

The first set was tight. Hyundai Engineering & Construction continued to run away after leading 9-7 with Jung Ji-yoon and Kim Joo-hyang scoring in the first set. However, he failed to stop GS Caltex's offensive and allowed a 23-23 tie. However, as GS Caltex was hampered by errors by Kang So-hwi and Choi Eun-ji, Hyundai Engineering & Construction took the first set.

GS Caltex cheered up from the second set. With the team being dragged 18-21, Kwon Min-ji's time difference attack, Kang So-hwi's open attack, and Yoo Seo-yeon's serve ace took the lead thanks to five consecutive goals, and took the second set 25-23.

The third set was also tight. In 11-11, Kang So-hwi scored five consecutive goals to set the mood. Since then, Moon Ji-yoon and Yoo Seo-yeon have scored, leading 24-17 and taking the third set due to the opponent's attack error.

The good flow continued. Even when GS Caltex was trailing 4-6 in the fourth set, it took advantage of Yoo Seo-yeon's consecutive goals and opponent's mistakes to take the lead again. In a tight 13-13, Kang So-hwi scored 16 points, starting with blocking, and finished the game with Kim Min-ji's serve ace at 24-20. 토토
